2010 Summer Internship Program

Sparkseed is seeking summer interns to manage projects that strengthen Sparkseed's ventures, enhance its brand recognition, and increase its bottom line. Sparkseed's start-up environment provides the opportunity for interns to explore all facets of the organization, while specializing in one area: public relations, fundraising, or venture support.

  • Public Relations – Work with our PR team to increase Sparkseed's brand recognition through print and online media, including social media
  • Fundraising – Grants and donations are the fuel that powers charitable organizations. Learn important development skills like grant writing, prospecting, and networking
  • Venture Support – Sparkseed provides a suite of support to all of its ventures. You will manage the implementation of these support programs

About Sparkseed:

Sparkseed is a nonprofit organization that identifies, incubates, and invests the next generation of social entrepreneurs. We harness the passion, innovation, and talent of college students and scale the impact of their social ventures. Over the past two years, Sparkseed has provided mentoring, seed money, pro-bono consulting, and training to over 50 social innovators throughout the country.

Internship Requirements:

Sparkseed interns need a passion for social change that can knock down walls. This unpaid internship is not for the shy, task-oriented student. Interns will take leadership on projects and work with established professionals and highly motivated students alike.

  • Bachelors degree in progress or completed
  • Ability to speak on the phone with a range of people, from college students to senior executives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organized, dedicated, outgoing, likeable
  • Eager to take initiative

Logistics:

  • Location: South of Market (SOMA), San Francisco
  • Start date: Beginning of June to end of August 2010
  • Last day to apply: April 30, 2010
  • Commitment: Minimum 10-14 hours per week

A/V INTERN 

Sparkseed is seeking a part-time A/V Specialist to join our team in San Francisco. This position is ideal for someone with experience in graphic design that is looking to expand professionally by working for an innovative non-profit organization dedicated to the development of young social entrepreneurs. It is also a great fit for individuals seeking:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop, edit, and shoot all video production content for Sparkseed
  • Production includes camera and audio set-up, camera operation, live streaming, editing, web posting, and archiving abilities 

Required Skills and Attributes:

  • Demonstrated experience in video production (i.e. coursework or professional work)
  •  Proficiency in Final Cut and iMovie is required, as is a strong portfolio exhibiting a variety of work that shows excellent use of forward thinking themes (access to your own equipment is a plus) 
  • Extremely organized
  •  Outgoing, likeable
  •  Eager to take initiative
  •  Thinks creatively to produce new ideas

  • Location: South of Market (SOMA), San Francisco, with the opportunity to work virtually
  • Reporting Relationship: This position will report to the Venture Support Coordinator and the CEO
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Commitment: 8-10 hours per week
  • Compensation: Unpaid
